Diablo IV’s open beta has shattered its franchise records, garnering over 61.5 million hours of gameplay over two weekends. The beta preview of the upcoming action RPG saw over 2.6 million players reaching level 20, with Sorceress being the most popular class played.

During the beta, players had a taste of Diablo IV’s iconic boss battles against The Butcher and the World Boss Ashava. Roughly 570,000 players defeated The Butcher, and roughly 100,000 players took down Ashava. However, the bosses didn’t go down easily, with over 1.7 million and 10 million players dying against The Butcher and Ashava, respectively. Nevertheless, one player almost single-handedly defeated Ashava, showcasing the dedication of the Diablo community.

The beta excitement carried over to Twitch. Viewers watched nearly 29 million hours of Diablo IV gameplay from March 16 to March 28, 2023. Viewership peaked around 950,000 viewers on March 17, and approximately 84,000 unique Twitch channels broadcasted the gameplay.

Twitch data showed that viewership was higher the first weekend as compared to the second. Diablo IV managed to demonstrate its ability to attract viewers throughout the beta phase.

For those that missed the open beta, the wait is almost over. Diablo IV is set to debut on June 6, 2023, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

Diablo IV’s success demonstrates the franchise’s continued popularity, attracting a dedicated fan base and curious viewers alike. Don’t miss out on the action; stay updated with GamesBeat and join their community in Los Angeles at GamesBeat Summit 2023 this May 22-23.
