The Druid class in Diablo 4 has faced criticism from beta players who claim that it feels underpowered. However, one Blizzard associate game director has come to its defense by declaring that the Druid is one of the strongest classes in the game.

Despite the recent Diablo 4 server slam and beta tests receiving positive feedback for their overall look and feel, class balancing has been a divisive topic among fans. Sorcerer was the most popular class during the first beta test, while Barbarian felt underwhelming. While Blizzard made certain adjustments for the second weekend of the beta tests, melee-oriented classes, including Druid, were still lagging behind and received criticism for being low on damage and not as tanky as expected.

The Blizzard Associate Game Director, Joe Piepiora, provided insight into class balancing and why Druid felt underpowered during the beta testing. He revealed that the reason was that players were unable to experience the full potential of the class due to level restrictions and the lock on part of the skill tree.

Piepiora then made a surprising announcement that the Druid is rated as one of the strongest classes internally at Blizzard, without revealing the big reasons for why this is. Fans speculated that certain parts of the Druid Skill Tree, like Animal Blessings, could be the key to unlocking its full potential. That particular quest line was unavailable during the beta, which left fans unable to test it.

However, balance isn’t the only issue Druids face. Fans questioned the bulky look of the Druid class, with some requesting a slimmer appearance. In response, Blizzard said that there’s no plan for alternative appearances and that each class has a unique silhouette and visual design for identification purposes during PvP elements.

Diablo 4 is set to launch on June 6th for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X.
