Capcom has just unveiled a new game trailer for the upcoming PlayStation VR2 version of Resident Evil Village. Players will take the role of Ethan Winters, as he combats Mother Miranda’s underlings in search of his kidnapped daughter Rosemary. With this version, people will be able to fully immerse themselves in the village, as they wear their virtual reality headsets.
Resident Evil Village was released in May 2021 across several popular platforms, including PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Stadia, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. In this installment, the player takes control of Ethan Winters once more as he endeavors to recover his daughter Rosemary, drawing him into an enigmatic village surrounded by supernatural occurrences. Critical reception for the game was highly positive, to the point where it was even rated as the Ultimate Game of the Year for 2021 during the Golden Joystick Awards and its star Maggie Robertson was recognized in The Game Awards for Best Performance for her portrayal of Lady Dimitrescu.
Capcom revealed an exciting new gameplay trailer for the PlayStation VR2 version of Resident Evil Village on its YouTube channel. The video follows protagonist Ethan Winters as he struggles against various foes, ranging from monstrous mutants to Karl Heisenberg, one of the chief antagonists. After watching the trailer, viewers will learn the release date of Resident Evil Village on PlayStation VR2, which is set for February 22, 2023.
In the description of the video, Capcom mentioned an important detail: a free PlayStation VR2 version of Resident Evil Village for those who own the game. All the comments were full of people expressing their joy at this announcement. Some suggested they would purchase a PlayStation VR2 only to play this title, while others wished there were PC VR and other virtual reality versions of Resident Evil games.
Resident Evil Village is included among the games slated to be released around the same time as the PlayStation VR2. This includes No Man’s Sky, The Dark Pictures: Switchback, Jurassic World Aftermath, and Horizon Call of the Mountain. Sony’s new virtual reality device is scheduled to be put out on February 22, 2023, and boasts benefits such as a high quality 4K HDR display with a 110° field of view, foveated rendering, and improved eye-tracking technology. Unfortunately, due to the advancements of its components, the PlayStation VR2 will not be backward compatible with its original PlayStation VR game titles, so gamers will not be able to enjoy their old virtual reality games on the new headset.
The latest installment in the Resident Evil franchise, Village, is set to be launched for the PlayStation VR2 on the 22nd of February, 2023.
