Merge Games and Motion Twin have announced that the critically acclaimed Dead Cells, in addition to the Return to Castlevania expansion, is now available natively on PS5. With this news, the two have also revealed physical bundles that are set to feature all previously released DLCs, including the Konami crossover. The retail release will be available on both PS5 and PS4 from August 11th, and they will incorporate reversible retro cover art, which pays homage to the original PlayStation and the Nintendo Entertainment System.

The press release statement reads, “Featuring the original base game for Dead Cells along with downloadable contents Rise of the Giant, The Bad Seed, Fatal Falls and The Queen and the Sea, plus 34 more free updates, Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania introduces a brand new storyline across two new biomes.”

For those who are interested in more, the previous statement mentioned that the Signature Edition will include additional bonuses, including unique Signature Edition outer sleeves, an alternative disc soundtrack featuring 28 original Castlevania tunes reimagined in a Dead Cells approach, a collection of four enamel pins, an exclusive art book, five snapshot photos souvenirs of the Beheaded in Castlevania, a lenticular castle card, four Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania postcards featuring printed signatures, and a Special edition collectors’ box.

For existing Dead Cells owners who already possess the PS4 version, there will be a free upgrade once the PS5 version is released. The press release states that, “Putting to use all of the console’s features, players will feel every enemy they take down and power they use with trigger effects, custom vibrations, feedback using the DualSense’s speaker and lightbars, and more.”

Overall, this news is a thrill for all Dead Cells fans. For those who desire a physical edition, the Signature Edition is an extraordinary option, provided with a range of collectibles in addition to the game and its DLC. The Return to Castlevania expansion will bring a fresh storyline to the game, which players will surely relish. While there’s no date for the PS5 version beyond these physical editions, the release of the physical bundle is a good start. Fans can now pre-order the bundles, but let’s hope for the full release in the near future.
