Insomniac Games, the developer behind the highly anticipated Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 PS5 game, has confirmed that it will not feature co-op gameplay. The answer to the question of whether or not the game would have co-op has been something fans have been clamoring for since it was announced that both Peter Parker and Miles Morales would be featured in the game.

The studio put an end to this speculation with a tweet on Monday responding to a fan’s query, saying that Spider-Man 2 is an “epic single-player adventure,” similar to the first game. Fans might still be able to switch back and forth between the two Spider-Men in the game, but there will be no playing together as friends.

Actor Nadji Jeter, who played Miles Morales, had fueled the speculation when he stated last year during the SacAnime convention that he believed co-op would be available in the title. However, Insomniac Games has now officially denied this through its social media account.

Insomniac’s comments echo those made during the initial reveal of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. There is a possibility that the game could offer seamless switching between the two characters, but players will not be able to play together.

Fans of the game can expect to hear more information at the PlayStation Showcase event, which is scheduled to take place soon.

The original Spider-Man game by Insomniac Games received critical acclaim and was released exclusively on PS4 in 2018. Its sequel, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 PS5, is highly anticipated and expected to be released later this year.

It goes without saying that fans were anticipating the co-op mode for the new game, but Insomniac Games put a stop to rumors with their official statement. So just like the original, we can expect an epic single-player adventure.
