There are rumours circulating that Sony may have signed exclusive console deals with Konami for three titles, including Castlevania, Metal Gear Solid, and Silent Hill. While it is confirmed that Silent Hill 2 will be remade by Bloober Team only for PS5 and PC for a year, the other two titles are subjected to mere speculations. Speculations about Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater have been swirling for several years. This weekend, podcast host Nick Baker revived the rumors, claiming that the classic game might re-emerge during the upcoming PS Showcase with some form of PS5 exclusivity.

While Baker from the podcast and his source remain uncertain, Windows Central editor Jez Corden was quick to back up the speculation. He tweeted, “Just heard Sony landed a deal with Konami for Silent Hill, Metal Gear, and maybe even a new Castlevania.” However, the strength of these rumours leaves everything uncertain, and nothing can be said with absolute certainty.

If these rumours are accurate, however, what is more important than the titles getting exclusive rights is that Konami might be interested in making games again. Sony this generation has locked down franchises with historical PlayStation association, such as Final Fantasy, so it would not be a big surprise to see them securing marketing rights to these franchises at the very least.

This is an exciting time as it is the summer announcement season, and we can only wait to see what the next few months bring. It is important to keep in mind though that everything regarding these games is just speculation at this point. Only time will tell what the future holds for Konami and Sony’s deal.
