Sony’s most-awaited PlayStation Showcase unveiled several new devices, games, and remakes during the virtual event. The company announced a hand-held streaming device, Project Q, which will allow players to connect to their PlayStation 5 at home and stream the games they own anywhere they go. The device is designed like a hand-held console with the PlayStation 5 controller split into half on either side. Project Q also features an 8-inch HD screen, and Sony will reveal more details about the product’s release date soon.
One of the most popular announcements of the event was Konami’s remake of one of its most beloved games, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. Directed by the renowned Japanese video game director, Hideo Kojima, the game was first released on PlayStation 2 in 2004. Konami also revealed its plan to remaster the first three games in the Metal Gear Solid franchise, with the new versions featuring improved graphics and performance.
The sequel to the 2018 Spider-Man game, titled Spider-Man 2, was also one of the main highlights of the event. The trailer showed original Spider-Man Peter Parker, his protégé Miles Morales, and Venom as playable characters. Kraven the Hunter was revealed as one of the main villains in the game.
Finnish game studio Remedy announced a trailer for its upcoming Alan Wake 2. The game is the sequel to the original Alan Wake game, which tells the story of writer Alan Wake, who became trapped in a supernatural lake that forced him to write fiction to save his wife.
The company also revealed the release date for the latest addition to the Assassin’s Creed game series. The game, called Assassin’s Creed Mirage, will take place in 9th century Baghdad and is set to release on October 12th on all major consoles.
Other new title announcements made during the showcase included Dragon’s Dogma 2, Fairgame$, The Talos Principle 2, Foamstars, Phantom Blade Zero, Ghostrunner 2, and Arrowhead’s Helldivers 2.
