The highly anticipated game, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, developed by Respawn, launched with several bugs last month on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PS5. Players were frustrated with issues such as the game breaking during critical narrative sequences, permanently losing XP, missing preorder items, and shoddy performance on all platforms. The good news is that Respawn is rolling out a new patch this week to fix these issues on all platforms.
One major issue that will be fixed is an HDR value mismatch on PS5, which was causing HDR setups to display incorrectly for PS5 users. The patches for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S are being released today, while the PC patch will be available later this week.
The PC players seem to have had the worst experience with Jedi: Survivor, and Respawn has announced that the fixes for the PC version will be targeted solely at that platform. Performance improvements make up the bulk of these fixes, and Respawn says that this patch will launch “as soon as possible” on PC. They are actively working on improving the performance of newer i7 and i9 CPUs, general performance improvements to both CPU and GPU utilization, and various bug fixes.
Publisher Electronic Arts promised to work on the fix for these issues and continue to monitor the game’s performance. In GameSpot’s Star Wars Jedi: Survivor review, the game was applauded for its improved gameplay, storytelling, and a captivating story of a Jedi grappling with morality.
The latest patch details include improvements to occlusion behavior for ray tracing, updating streaming budgets to help alleviate traversal hitching, performance improvements for some VFX, and improved data handling when toggling raytracing, improving non-raytraced performance. They have also fixed various save state errors, streaming issues that cause some streaming scenarios to end on a black screen, and bugs experienced by players during the progression of the game.
Players will be glad to know that the developer is working hard to improve the game’s overall performance and fix the multitude of bugs that have come to their attention since its initial launch. We suggest keeping an eye out for the upcoming patches, which will address a variety of issues and improvements for all platforms.
