Publisher Humble Games and developer Supra Games have finally released Supraland Six Inches Under for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Following the success of the first Supraland game, which launched in 2019, Supraland Six Inches Under was originally scheduled to be released for consoles in early 2023. Finally, it is now available via Xbox Game Pass. Players who enjoyed the first Supraland games are guaranteed to enjoy the sequel.
If you’re unfamiliar with the Supraland series, the game is a combination of a first-person shooter and a Metroidvania. In Supraland Six Inches Under, you are confined to a gated world, and through gathering abilities, you can explore more parts of it. The game consists of roughly 55 percent exploration, 40 percent solving puzzles, and 5 percent combat. On average, the adventure will take players about eight to twenty hours to complete, and there are absolutely no skill trees as the game is intended to be casual and enjoyable.
The game features hundreds of gags and two funny jokes, and compared to the previous game, players may enjoy the fact that the puzzles are simpler in the main path, but some hard puzzles are also included. Additionally, in Supraland Six Inches Under, there is less combat, and all enemy types are brand new. There is much more optional content this time around, and a lot of it can only be unlocked after the final credits.
While David Munnich created the first Supraland game pretty much alone, this time, there was a team of six people, and pretty much everyone worked on building one or two regions of the game. It was intended to be a minor downloadable content, but eventually, it got more and more ambitious, and instead of the months it took for the previous game, it took the team 27 months to complete Supraland Six Inches Under. After the great success of the first game, the development team decided to experiment more in Supraland Six Inches Under and take on a more hands-on approach.
Moreover, in the sequel, the combat system has been revised, and it can be considered experimental. New enemy types behave differently from one other, and there is no more one-fits-all solution to them. The goal is to create unique fights and give the players an enhanced gaming experience.
Currently, Supraland Six Inches Under is available for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series, and it is available via Xbox Game Pass. Furthermore, a Switch release is on the horizon and is expected by this summer. The game is a great casual game to play during downtime, and if you want to dive into a first-person shooter Metroidvania, then this is the game for you. Check out the trailer and don’t miss out on one of the most anticipated casual games of 2023!
