Asus has revealed the latest contender to join the mobile gaming PC market with the announcement of the ROG Ally. The impressive hardware design boasts a six-core AMD Ryzen Z1 chip and RDNA 3 graphics chip that uses AMD’s FidelityFX Super Resolution upscaling technologies. The ROG Ally features a 7” Full HD 120Hz screen that has a 7ms response time and can display an impressive 500 Nits of brightness. With 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM and Dolby Atmos support through its speakers, the ROG Ally has an overall weight of just 608g.

The ROG Ally uses Windows 11 as its operating system, giving users the ability to access games from a vast array of platforms. Its operating system has been fine-tuned for the ROG Ally, offering steam games, Xbox Game Pass, Epic Games Store, Ubisoft Connect, and more. Armory Crate, included with the PC, offers customizable key mapping, performance profiles, and control panel overlays.

The ROG Ally also features a custom-designed cooling system that Asus claims is whisper-quiet, and barely noticeable when using the speakers. It can also be used as a 4K gaming machine on a TV screen, but only with the optional purchase of the pricey ROG XG Mobile GPU.

Asus has yet to confirm the price of the ROG Ally, but the company has guaranteed that it will retail for no more than $1,000. The device will come bundled with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, and other accessories will be available, including carrying cases and controllers. The ROG Ally is set to release on May 11, and it is expected to be higher priced than the 512GB Steam Deck at $650 and similar to other specialist handheld gaming PC systems like the Aya Neo Air.

In summary, with the impressive hardware design, including a powerful chip and graphics, a high-quality display, custom cooling system, and accessibility, the ROG Ally looks set to take the mobile gaming industry by storm. Overall, the ROG Ally is an exciting new contender in the mobile PC gaming market, and its launch is eagerly awaited by gaming enthusiasts all over the world!
