Redfall is Playable on Steam Deck with Tweaks

The Redfall intro screen, with the Steam Deck’s performance hud above it.

Redfall, the new game from Arkane, may not be a great game, but with a few minor changes, it can be made playable on the Steam Deck (Valve’s handheld gaming device).

By default, the game seems to run at 800p medium spec, which can cause performance issues. However, by running the game at 1280 x 720p, low spec, with FSR 2.1 Ultra Performance, you can make the game playable. The only downside is the game may look a bit muddy in motion.

Before: 24fps for this grainy mess below.

Before playing the game, you may want to adjust the Steam Deck settings to improve battery life and responsiveness. Go to the quick settings menu, and under Performance, set the Refresh Rate to 40Hz and Frame Limiter to 40fps. This will help improve battery life and responsiveness.

If you are a fan of Redfall, then the Steam Deck is a great device to play it on. You may need to tweak the settings to make it playable, but with a few minor changes, you can enjoy the game on the go.
