Redfall’s system requirements look reasonable – and it’s already Steam Deck Verified
Redfall, a vampire shooter developed by the esteemed game developers Arkane, known for their single-player immersive sims, is set to release next week. With that, we now know its system requirements, and perhaps surprisingly, it’s already Steam Deck Verified.
Minimum Requirements
- CPU: Intel Core i5-8400 @ 2.80GHz or AMD Ryzen 5 1600
- GPU: AMD RX 580 / NVIDIA GTX 1070 / 6 GB VRAM
- System RAM: 16 GB
- OS: Windows 10 64-bit
- Storage: 100 GB SSD
Recommended Requirements
- CPU: Intel Core i7-9700K @ 3.60GHz or AMD Ryzen 7 2700X
- GPU: AMD 5700 / NVIDIA RTX 2080 / Intel ARC / 8 GB VRAM
- System RAM: 16 GB
- OS: Windows 10 64-bit
- Storage: 100 GB SSD
These system requirements seem reasonable, although the minimum specification of a 100GB SSD is interesting. Other recent games such as Star Wars Jedi: Survivor listed an HDD as minimum spec and only recommended an SSD. There is no indication of how Redfall will run at each specification in terms of frames per second.
In addition to these requirements, you can find additional “ultra spec” requirements in the full announcement. You’ll also find an accessibility guide, which lists the options Redfall gives players to customize their experience, including screen narration and font scaling.
If you visit Redfall’s Steam page, you’ll find the Steam Deck “Verified” status mentioned in the sidebar, which confirms that Redfall is fully playable on Valve’s handheld PC. While it’s nice to see developers supporting the Steam Deck, an open-world multiplayer first-person shooter might not be the best type of game to play on a portable device.
Although I have no qualms about Arkane branching out from their typical offering of immersive sims, I am yet to be impressed by Redfall’s trailers and footage released so far. It’s my hope that the game offers something unique when it drops next week.
