EA Sports PGA Tour, the developer’s long-awaited foray into professional-level golf gaming on consoles, has been slightly pushed back. In a blog post, EA Sports stated that the launch date has been moved to Friday 7th April, with the option for early access beginning on Tuesday 4th April. Golf aficionados know that this coincides with one of the most prestigious events of the year – The Masters Tournament at Augusta National, with the first round teeing off on Thursday 6th April.
“Bringing to life the ultimate golf experience has been our objective, and this slight delay in launch permits us to make some final modifications to the game we are ecstatic to deliver to you, including reimagining certain cherished courses to accurately mirror the designs of 2023,” EA communicated.
EA Sports’ PGA Tour boasts a plethora of courses right out of the gate, including the iconic Augusta National. And, while PGA Tour 2K23 may be a formidable rival, EA’s game stands out due to its inclusion of all four Major tournaments and the courses those events take place on.
EA Sports PGA Tour was poised to swing onto next-gen consoles and PC on March 24, marking the publisher’s first foray into virtual golf since the 2015 release of Rory McIlroy PGA Tour.
The golfing universe is currently undergoing a massive transformation, partially attributed to the ongoing contest between the PGA Tour and the Saudi financed LIV Golf tour. The final list of participants for EA Sports PGA Tour has yet to be disclosed, though it is safe to assume that it will not include any golfers who have inked a deal with LIV.
